Computer RepairComputers have become an inseparable part of our daily life. You always need your computer to remain in tip top working condition, whether you are a student, a professional or a businessman, or, even none of these. Our life has become so dependent upon them that a slight problem with our computer causes nightmares. The whole world comes to a standstill. And the problems with computers do occur quite frequently. Seeking a computer repair expert every time it is bogged down is not only costly but also time consuming. There are certain tips for laymen to mend their computers whenever some day to day problems occurs with them. A computer has basically two components, hardware and software. Hardware is the physical part of the computer. All types of computer technology that can operate it on electronic level come within the domain of hardware. The programs installed on the hardware to work with it are called software. While the hardware of a computer is useless without software, the later cannot operate without the hardware. So when we say our computer has developed a problem, it means that both its components have become dysfunctional. We cannot separate the two as they work as one whole system.
The first main problem that we often encounter with our computer is that it does not boot which means that it refuses to start immediately when we switch it on. If it does not start, we should check all the cables and connections. The first cable to look for is the power supply cable coming from the mainline. If it is ok, the next cable to be checked is the one that connects with the motherboard and finally the one that connects directly to the power button. Sometimes you find that the power supply to your room and computer is in perfect condition. The fans are working but there is no light on the screen. If the monitor remains black, you need to check the video card and the connection between the card and the monitor. Check the cable for any damages and also look for the bend pins. If he monitor still refuses to light up it is a danger signal that the mother board or the CPU is dead. You may need to change them. Another common problem with the hardware may deal with the hard drive. If the basic input and the output system - BIOS - does not work, it is quite possible that the hard drive is not detected. For this you need to check it up in the BIOS set up and see if you can check it manually. The next step is to check the IDE cable or IDE controllers. This cable connects your hard drive with the motherboard. Also check the cable to the power supply. If it still does not work, power up the computer and try to hear if the hard drive begins to spin. Also listen for any unusual sounds which are likely to be produced when the hard drive does not work properly. Sometimes, the problem may be with software also. It is a good idea to install an antivirus system to protect your computer from hanging when no amount of thumping and punching upon the keyboard and clicking the mouse helps. The window gets jammed and immovable. In case the antivirus software or the firewalls do not work and you cannot trace the cause of the problem, the best course is just to reinstall it. Many problems can be solved in this manner. Many software problems can be resolved by updating the registry. Take note of the error messages even if they appear unimportant to you. Quite often these messages are the door way to many a problem. Fifty percent of the hard drives start to deteriorate after about four years. So you should back up your data before meddling with it. In any case the repair work is too challenging for you, it is always advisable to seek the services of a really trained and experienced professional rather than the young poorly paid technicians at the main street shop.
